posted by a former student, 2009-10-24 I started out at Yelm High School in the middle of my sophomore year. I found the school to be unwelcoming and unfriendly, as well as the curriculum to be well behind what other high schools were doing. I learned how to write a thesis statement in the 8th grade. They were just learning how to write one in my junior year. Theatre is a passion me, yet the theatre program here is virtually non-existent. I have been around the entire country and I have been to several schools and I have never been so miserable in my entire life than I was at that school. Students can wander around the campus during the day, skipping class and the teachers do nothing about it. They walk right by students without saying a word. There were several times that I saw students smoking on the campus or walking off campus and smoking across the street and no one said anything. This is one school (and town) that really needs to turn their education system around.
